Prior to joining the firm in 1988, Dr. Heller was in private practice as an interventional cardiologist. He developed carpal tunnel syndrome in 1984 and was the litigant in the landmark disability insurance case of Heller v. The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, 833 F.2d 1253 (7th Cir., 1987). Dr. Heller, a licensed physician in Illinois, has held faculty appointments as Instructor in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois School of Medicine; Associate Professor of Medicine at the Loyola-Stritch College of Medicine; and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Northwestern University School of Medicine. Dr. Heller's practice areas include medical malpractice, personal injury and insurance coverage.

Dr. Heller is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Dr. Heller is also a Fellow Emeritus of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Legal Medicine.
